Sad, But True

Another phone call; Louisa was used to being called at all hours to take in a foster child. This time they were expected to head straight to the hospital.
The ten month old baby had been admitted because she was malnourished; starving to put it bluntly. Sure, Edwin and Louisa would take her in.  In a few weeks, maybe days, would be more accurate, she was gaining weight and responding well. Louisa loved her very much. Unfortunately that is not the end of the story. She was expected to go back to Mom. When ‘Lacy’, saw the car seat and somehow realized that she was going to be taken away from a place she felt safe and secure, she cried so hard they put it off for two weeks, then tried again.

I’m sure Louisa will never forget the sad, pleading eyes of that precious little girl as she was carried out of her life. Forever.

LISTEN. Those little people need you. We can’t afford to be selfish and think it would be too hard to give them up. If you have to let go, give another child love, then another. Take a break if you need to, but don’t give up. They need you, they need YOU!  If you love Jesus He will carry you in His arms and comfort you even while you are comforting these little ones.

P.S. There are pathetically many slightly older children who are up for adoption. It’s so unfair that they are neglected while the newborns are snatched up. Have a heart!!
